Please Let Me Be The First To Punch The Next Person Who Tells You Something Happens For A Reason

During this current flare up, I have been spending more time online than usual. Is it possible to finish the internet? I think I’m nearly there!

I’ve been feeling increasingly frustrated and depressed – even when I try and do everything in my power to help me feel better, my body sometimes likes to stick up two fingers and relegate me to a curled up mess of a person. And honestly, there’s not really anything I can do about it except try and keep doing what I’m doing and hope it passes soon.

This is particularly difficult for people around me who don’t know what to do. I mean, I understand…I don’t know what to do, so how can they? I’m getting snappier and more difficult to be around as a result because nothing seems to help right now. I’m frustrated that my attempts at distraction only make me feel worse, I’m upset that my friends are all gallivanting around the world doing the exciting things I want to do, and I’m angry that I can’t find something that will help.

Yes, I know that there’s not really all that much I can do, but I’m a control freak and refuse to accept that there’s nothing else I can do. I’m just throwing money at the problem because I can’t think of anything else.

In my bed-bound internet derping, I stumbled across these amazing empathy cards that were created by Emily McDowell. They put into words so many things I’d love people to understand about how you can support someone you care about who has an illness.

    I shared these on my facebook page a few weeks ago and my family RIPPED me to shreds, really nasty. I got very very upset.

    Natasha, I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, and remember I am a fellow sufferer and I know you don’t like unsolicited advice, but I am hoping this really simple thing will help you and you won’t hate me and immediately block me, but obviously feel free to ignore me…..

    I have just started using a couple of nuun re-hydration tablets a day (they were recommend to someone else with the same thing by Dr Hakim) and they really have made a stunning difference. Really easy to use (drop in water) and nice too. a tad expensive (£18 for 40 tablets) but so so worth it in my opinion.

    I was playing in a concert, absolutely exhausted and then spending 2 days in bed to recover. Now I can do the concert, drink between every song, and just be a bit tired the next day.

    I hesitate to share this as I know you hate random people offering advice, but this was on the recommendation of a EDS Dr and me a fellow EDS HT sufferer. Another person in my EDS group also has POTS and while it hasn’t been quite so dramatic for her it has made a difference.

      I’m so so sorry to hear you had negative responses – that’s so horrible. I guess it shows just the reasons we need those cards!

      Thank you so much for recommending the electrolytes (there’s a difference between someone who is experiencing the same thing just sharing what helps them!) and I’ve started using them. I’ve been really struggling to drink recently and they have been helping! x
