I’m really excited to announce that I’ve finally released the trailer for Spoonie Pyjama Party, my new podcast about life chronic and invisible illness!
I decided to start a podcast because I strongly believe that there needs to be a place in the chronic illness community that talks about the challenges that we face, while sticking up our middle finger and saying “screw that, I’m still going to live my life”.
I feel that a lot of the resources out there, especially groups on Facebook, can be very depressing and difficult to cope with. While I totally agree and understand that life with chronic illness is tough (and there are so so many issues that deserve to be talked about and worked through) getting caught up in self-perpetuting negative spaces can only make coping more difficult.
Every episode I will be joined by someone amazing from the community. We’ll discuss a specific topic per episode, ranging from work, ableism, accessibility, relationships, studying, volunteering, the wellness industry, diagnosis, and entrepreneurship.
The aim is to talk about the realities of our lived experiences, and the wider societal implications, while sharing how we cope and live our lives as best we can.
I strongly believe that while chronic illness is limiting (and for many of us, severely limiting), it doesn’t need to mean that life is over.
You can listen to the trailer below. Please please subscribe to the mailing list and on SoundCloud. I currently have the feed pending with iTunes, but hope to be up there shortly!
This is my first attempt at ever recording anything, so please be kind, I’m learning!
